It has been an absolute whirlwind few days and some, if not all of us, are feeling unsettled and anxious as things change hourly/daily around COVID19 (Coronavirus). We are all in this together. We are all part of an incredible community and we will get through this TOGETHER.
I am closely monitoring updates and guidelines from Alberta Health Services, BC Interior Health and Federal/Provincial Government. I am also connecting with several other Race Directors and event coordinators/planners as we support each other through these uncertain times and discuss implementing new race day food safety practices, possible staggered start times and other guidelines to keep racers, volunteers and supporters healthy and safe.
Lewiston Ultra Moose Mountain is more than five months away and Lewiston Ultra Shuswap is more than six months away. At this time, I am not planning on cancelling, deferring or postponing the 2020 events; you will be the first to know if this changes. The health and safety of Lewiston Ultra racers, volunteers, stakeholders, supporters, crew members and families are my primary concern and decisions as we move forward will not be taken lightly. I believe our Government(s) and health care system(s) are being proactive and this outbreak will be contained.
If you are training with run groups, please stay home if you aren’t feeling well or have flu like symptoms. Wash your hands like a boss, carry hand sanitizer, practice social distancing & enjoy some solo mountain time. PRACTICE KINDNESS.
If you have travelled recently, please respect the 14 day self isolation period. Keep chasing your run goals, crushing your training plan & shop/support local from the comfort of your home (online shopping is dreamy). We are all in this together and will get through this together.
All the love,
